Welcome to the website for Compilers and Interpreters (Fall 2023) at Johns Hopkins University!
Course description: Introduction to compiler design, including lexical analysis, parsing, syntax-directed translation, symbol tables, runtime environments, and code generation and optimization. Students are required to write a compiler as a course project.

News
- Nov 28 — Exam 3 will take place at 2 pm on Friday, Dec 15th, in Hodson 311 (our usual classroom.) The exam is closed book/no electronics, but you may bring one sheet of handwritten notes. Review materials are available on the Resources page.
- Nov 12 — Assignment 5 is due Friday, Dec 8th.
- Oct 25 — Exam 2 will take place in class on Monday, Nov 6th. It is closed book and no electronics, but you may bring one sheet of hand-written notes. (Writing on both sides is allowed.) Review materials are available on the Resources page.
- Oct 22 — Assignment 4 has two milestones, due Friday, Nov 3rd and Friday, Nov 17th, respectively.
- Oct 19 — The due date for Assignment 3 has been moved to Wednesday, Oct 25th.
- Oct 7 — Assignment 3 is due Monday, Oct 23rd. Also, the Schedule page has been updated with slides for Oct 9th and 11th.
- Sep 24 — Exam 1 will take place in class on Wednesday, Oct 4th. It is closed book and no electronics, but you may bring one sheet of hand-written notes. (Writing on both sides is allowed.) Review materials are available on the Resources page.
- Sep 13 — Assignment 2 has two milestones, due Monday, Sep 25th and Thursday, Oct 5th respectively.
- Sep 7 — A precedence climbing demo program has been posted on the Resources Page.
- Aug 28 — Welcome! Assignment 1 is due Friday, Sep 15th by 11pm.
